Getting your message, what it is that you do, communicated clearly to visitors on your website is paramount. It's not just about how fancy looking or 'funky and cool' it is, it is about clarity, a good user-centric designed experience, and ultimately, a visitor to your website establishing a relationship with you.
Client Friendly Admin
My ultimate goal for the websites that I build is that once the site is up and running and handed over to you, you can take charge and manage all content changes and maintenance yourself. Most sites I build are created in the awesome Content Management System, Business Catalyst; it has back-end admin tools that are very easy to use, so editing your site's content, adding new pages, changing images or publishing a latest news article can all be done by you, when you need them done and not when the developer or agency schedules them in.
Search Engine Optimisation
There is a lot that goes into optimising a website, and how a website is physically built is one of them. Attention to this side of your website will be taken care of so that your website's structure and elements are working towards good search results and Google ranking.
Mobile devices are increasingly becoming the norm for viewing websites; Google is starting to take the mobile version of a website as the primary version to index, which means that if your website isn't developed to be responsive for mobile devices, long-term, this will probably work against your search results ranking. Websites I build will have responsiveness built into it as a default. If your developer isn't doing this for you, you should probably consider finding somebody else.

Will my new website be on the top of Google search results? >>
Probably not if it's a new website. A lot of things go into getting search engines like Google to take notice of your website, how long it has been around is one of them, but there are many things that affect how a search engine ranks your website. One of the most important things a search engine takes notice of is content (keywords are important), and how relevant it is to the subject of your website.
What is SEO? >>
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation - a methodology of strategies, techniques and tactics used to increase the amount of visitors to a website by obtaining a high-ranking placement in the search results page of a search engine (SERP). For a thorough explanation, take a look here.
What is a CMS? >>
A content management system (CMS) is a software application or set of related programs that are used to create and manage digital content. So basically it's the tool that your website is built with that allows you to make changes to the website content, be that website pages or products in a database.
Can I have an online shop? >>
Yes. The CMS I like to use, Business Catalyst, has a very good integrated E-commerce toolset that is easy to run an on-line store with. If Business Catalyst isn't quite right for you there are many other options that can be explored.
How much will it cost to build a website? >>
That's not an easy question to answer as there are many factors involved and all website requirements are different. The best thing would be to get in touch to discuss what you're after and take it from there.
